Nestled in the quiet hills of country Victoria, mother-daughter duo Pam and Katie along with their passionate team of local women, design, create and produce these unique, hand dyed variegated threads. Each hand packed thread leaves their workshop having been handled with care. Cottage Garden Threads are perfect for hand stitching details on all types of fabrics, surface work, cross stitching, quilting and embroidery, and are a delight to work with. Stranded cotton is comprised of 6 separate strands which are easily separated and allow you to adjust the thickness of your stitching by using a different number of strands.
Using the finest quality long staple mercerised base thread ensures a high sheen and low knotting rate. Threads are Australian Textile Industry certified light and colour fast. Designed with the same colour at either end of the pre-cut lengths gives continuity of the subtle colour blend, which is only achievable with hand dying. The short colour lengths within each skein of thread ensure a lovely subtle effect when stitching even small details.
Care instructions are included with each package (packaging may vary from image shown). Gentle hand wash in warm water (unless your fabric piece is not washable) with soft soap is recommended. Warm rinse. Place immediately onto a dry towel, roll up, squeeze firmly. Air dry completely. For quilts spin on gentle cycle and air dry (if fabrics are washable). When completely dry, steam press from back onto a soft pressing cloth. Gently pull to shape. Do not leave stitchery wet.
The packaging system unique to CGT is designed to retain the information of the thread colour, number and weight as well as eliminating tangles. By just pulling on the left-hand side of the skein, the thread will untwist and be ready to use length by length, or strand by strand.
We highly recommend purchasing sufficient amounts of thread for each project as the threads can vary between dye lots and identical colour match between batches cannot be guaranteed. Cottage Garden Threads meet the standards for Australian Textile Industry certified light and colour fast.
Whilst every care has been taken to show thread shades as accurately as possible, due to lighting, screen resolution and other factors, we cannot guarantee an exact replication of colour.
